Speak Like a Thai, Vol. 7: Thai Abbreviations and Formal Thai

Thai people often unconsciously use abbreviations in their speech and writing. Abbreviations are used especially in newspaper headlines, on the radio, on the Internet and at informal settings because the original words or phrases are either too long or too formal.

Abbreviations are now popular and accepted among speakers of all languages. They are also convenient and easy to remember which helps expedite communications and save space and time.
