This Spears adapter pipe fitting is made of schedule 40 PVC and has a male NPT end connection and a spigot end connection. This adapter fitting connects pipes or fittings with different end types. It has male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on one end for connecting to female threaded pipe and a male spigot connection for fitting into a female unthreaded pipe on the other end. The NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads, and the spigot end has the same diameter as the pipe it connects to, minimizing turbulence and creating a tight seal.
