Spur driver
Quickest way to hold wood parts between centers
#1 Morse tapered end inserts in headstock spindle
Point and four sharp blades bite into end of wood part to drive it between centers
Quicker to use than a chuck or collet
The spur driver is mounted in the headstock. It has a #1 Morse taper and comes with a drawbolt to hold it securely in the taper. Using its point to center the part and the four teeth to bite into the wood, the other end of the part is supported by a live center. This is the quickest and easiest way to drive wood parts for turning and the way it is done on most lathes designed for wood turning. It is much quicker and easier to use than chucks or collets to hold and drive a part.
