Vinyl LP pressing. 2015 release, the second album by Marseilles artist Sylvain Chuzeville (a.k.a Sylvain the Librarian). Staff Only No Vikings branches out musically by adding melodica, vintage synthesizers and a variety of other instruments to create an exciting mix of ambience that all somehow works cohesively thanks to the songwriting brilliance and lack of pretention from the artist himself. The album starts out with a kick from the catchy 'Money Well Spent', but then moves deeper harmonically and subject-matter-wise with 'The Bell Says' and 'Es is Charlotte'. The Librarian demonstrates his ability to use music as observational reporting with 'The People You Work With' and 'Your Manager Now', songs which deliver honest stories with nice hooks and jaunty humor reminiscent of The Beatles' Revolver. The album as a whole delivers a nice blend of styles and instrumentation in a listenable lo-fidelity collection.
