GQ, one of the most stylish and talented groups to emerge from the disco movement in the late 1970's, enjoyed success during the period of their three albums recorded for Arista Records. Disco Nights (R&B #2), GQ Two (R&B #2) and Face To Face (R&B #18) produced seven R&B and four pop hits as well as substantial club play between 1979 and 1981. This compilation encompasses the group's recordings for Arista Records as well as several tracks recorded for Vigor Records under their original moniker The Rhythm Makers where they released the album Soul On Your Side in 1976. Tracks included from Soul On Your Side are Zone (R&B #92), Monterey and Soul On Your Side as well as non-album singles from their Rhythm Makers period You're Never Too Old (To Get On Down) and Prime Cut. The remainder of this collection covers the groups successful Arista period and includes the classic Disco Nights (Rock Freak) (R&B #1) and follow up singles I Do Love You (R&B #5) and Make My Dreams A Reality (R&B #8) from Disco Nights, Standing Ovation (R&B #12) and Sitting In The Park (R&B #9) from Two, and Shake (R&B #23) and Sad Girl (R&B #39) from Face To Face. Also included is the 1982 non-album single Try Smurfin' as well as 12" long versions of several tracks.
