Ben Carter, a college student and part-time farrier, lives in an apartment above a stable while attending school in nearby Charleston, South Carolina. His life changes dramatically one night when he is stabbed in the back and left for dead in the aisle between the two rows of stalls in the barn beneath his apartment. He survives but over the next several months his luck will have to continue to hold out for him to remain alive and discover why he is being targeted.
