Step block hold-down set
Small size version of hold-down sets used on full-size mills
Stepped angle blocks and matching stepped clamps engage each for quick height adjustment
Six pairs of threaded studs from 1" to 3.5" included
Matching concave/convex nuts and washers hold clamps that are not parallel to the table
Extra unanodized block included to be cut into smaller blocks for special jobs
This is a scaled-down version of the step block sets commonly used with full-size mills. The angled blocks have an extruded step pattern up the angled side. Clamps have the corresponding step pattern in the end. To clamp a part you engage the steps on the clamp with the steps on the block at the proper height and then pull them down by tightening a nut on a threaded rod held in a T-nut in the mill table T-slot. The special nut has a convex bottom surface, and it mates with a nut that has a concaved top surface. This allows full contact of the hold-down nut even on clamps that are not parallel to the table. The set includes two clamps, two anodized angle blocks (plus one un-anodized block to be cut to size as needed), two nut/washer sets, 4 short and 4 long T-nuts and 6 pairs of threaded rods ranging from 1" to 3.5" long. For hard-to-hold castings and parts requiring additional clamping pressure it is recommended that you use additional clamps rather than overtightening a few clamps. Though it can be used on other tools, the T-nuts are designed to fit Sherline lathe and mill table T-slots.
