Strange Lineup (A Missing & Exploited Suspense Novel Book 2)
How far will a woman go to protect and provide for her family? Detective Harvey Sam is about to find out. Five years after botching the Gabriel Wheeler abduction case, Detective Harvey Sam faces the second major case of his career. An asthmatic mother, Gillian, eats peanut butter before surgery—and dies on the operating table as planned. Her suicide ends an abusive affair and is meant to provide for her family through a malpractice settlement. Instead, Gillian’s husband, her teenage son, and a doctor with a multiple personality disorder, must flee for their lives. They are pursued by the doctor’s husband, the psychopathic lover who drove Gillian to her death.
Strange Lineup explores power imbalances between men, women and children and the alternative realities some young victims create to survive. Both as a standalone novel and as Book 2 in the Missing & Exploited Suspense Series, Strange Lineup delivers intense psychological suspense.
Interview with the Author
Q – What make the Missing & Exploited Suspense Series special?
A – I write what I know, and what I know is unique. The children and teens at the heart of each book are inspired by my own childhood as an orphan and in the foster care system. As an adult I spent much of my life making the world a safer place for society through rehabilitation work with inner city youth, the mentally ill and brain-injured adults. Many of my clients were diagnosed with schizophrenia and as sociopaths, narcissists and psychopaths. I often worked one-on-one with dangerous individuals when few others could.
I write books that appeal to my inner bookworm. Give me a police procedural, mystery, thriller, detective novel, suspense novel or crime fiction that transcends the genre with great language and I’m hooked. I love books that delve deeply into the human psyche while delivering fast-paced plotting that keeps me reading late into the night. I love a good flawed hero. I want killers and child abductors to scare me because I’ve seen inside their heads and I know what they are capable of. I want protagonists who face impossible situations they somehow rise above. I want the occasional relief of humor and life-affirming endings that bring on the tears.
If you crave psychologically true page-turners, my Missing & Exploited Series is for you!
Q – Does it matter what order I read the books in?
A - I’ve written the series so each book works well as a standalone. If you read them in order, you’ll have the benefit of following the story threads that continue through multiple books in chronological order. If you read the books out of order, you’ll get the surprise of learning more about a character whom you already know well. To read them in order, follow this sequence:
- All That Remains - Strange Lineup - Lost Boys (coming soon)
Q – Tell me why I should read your books?
A - The Missing & Exploited Suspense Series delivers intense psychological suspense, beautiful writing, fast pacing, complex characters and unique plots. The underdogs are vulnerable yet resilient children and teens who never lose hold of hope. The villains were once children themselves. And Harvey Sam, failed family man and imperfect hero, is the kind of sweet, sensitive, yet tough guy a person can crush on!
Q - Can readers get the whole series in one go?
A – A bundle of All That Remains and Strange Lineup at a discounted price is coming soon.
