On May 29, 1913 the debut performance of Stravinsky's ballet Le Sacre du Printemps created one of the biggest scandals in the history of music. Published eight years after its inception, the ballet was later modified by the composer. On this fascinating release, conductor Francois-Xavier Roth, with special permission of Boosey & Hawkes editions and with the assistance of musicologist Louis Cyr, has restored the score of Le Sacre du Printemps to the original version used at the work's premiere. The disc also features the first version of the ballet Petrouchka.
