This means that we should think beyond aesthetics but more on the benefits that our fish can get from the things we will put inside. You should always take into consideration the following areas so you can give better care for your fish especially when you are dealing with Bettas -
Tank size - The bigger, the better. Give them a lot of personal space.
Water temperature & pH level - Water temperature should be between 78 - 80 deg Fahrenheit while pH level should be neutral between 6.5 and 8.
Water level - Ensure that there's enough space at the top of your tank so that fish can come to the surface for air.
Filter - Use the gentle type. This will help condition water longer and keep the tank cleaner.
Ornaments - Include plants that give shades and places to hide and never place anything with rough or sharp edges as Betta's fins are very delicate.
Tankmates - Consider sucker fish (bottom feeders) because they stay out of the Betta's way and do not keep them with fish with bright colors and flowing fins as they may feel threatened.
Light - Throughout the day, always turn on the light but not during night time as it may cause stress. Do not put your tank in direct sunlight.
Keep in mind that if something goes wrong with this basic requirement, your aquatic pets may become lethargic, depressed and may not live long.
