Susie & Me (Kindle Single)
Although they met later in life, Pat and Susie Jordan have always been perfect complements. He’s brash, opinionated and strong-willed; she’s the lovable girl next door who can’t keep her curse words straight. But when a bout of polyurethane poisoning reveals a startling shadow on Susie’s lung, the Jordans are jolted from the cozy, remote life they’ve built together into a world of highways, hospital visits, and overly-concerned friends. While it’s not their first rodeo with the C word, at 74 it escapes neither husband nor wife that this could be the Big One. Which reminds them not only of their mortality, but also of their early, tumultuous past—the wild fights and even wilder reconciliations—and the last-ditch effort they made to get it right. And get it right they did, finally. Because Pat and Susie aren’t your average septuagenarians—in just about every way you could imagine. In Susie & Me, acclaimed journalist Pat Jordan paints a poignant, hilarious, and all-too-intimate portrait of love, love-making and friendship in the third act.
