Johnny Maddox is widely regarded as one of the leading experts on rag time piano, both as a performer and historian and collector. It is a position he has maintain for more than sixty years, having enjoyed his first hit in 1950 with St Louis Tickle backed with Crazy Bone Rag. Tap Dance Rhythms was originally released on Dot in 1956 and quickly became one of his most successful albums, retaining that popularity even today, hence its reissue on CD.
