The Art of a Custom Wardrobe
Style: Distinction, Excellence, Originality, and Elegance of Manner & Being - Webster’s Dictionary Style is the way we have of expressing ourselves in a distinctive manner of dress. It is not simply having a garment that is currently in fashion, nor is it being dressed like everyone else. True style goes much further. True style is a reflection of whom you are inside. What you wear makes a statement about yourself to others. Ask yourself what kind of statement do you wish to make? How do you want to present yourself to others? Not everyone wants to make the same statement, but all of us want to look our best. When we look our best, we feel self-confident and that in turn makes us feel relaxed and at ease in any situation. When we feel confident and comfortable within ourselves and in our clothes, we can focus our attention on others. People will then begin to notice not only how nice you look, but also how self-assured and charming you really are. Style is an art and as with any art not everyone is born with a natural ability to achieve a personal style without some guidance. Inborn ability is truly rare and even those with that gift sometimes find themselves in need of some advice, given the overwhelming amount of “stuff†out there! Okay, so maybe you agree with me so far, but how in the world will you go about doing this? And how will you find a personal style that is truly your own without being dressed like everyone else? The Art of Style will help you make sense of it all by defining the basics of style. By understanding some simple style basics, you will be able to interpret fashion in a way that represents you as an individual as well as complements your figure and coloring. You will learn how to work and communicate with a tailor for both alterations to give a great fit in off the rack pieces or design a complete outfit for a special occasion; even add basic pants or skirt to give you exactly what you need to make your wardrobe work for you. Knowing this is an important part of getting your wardrobe off to a flattering start. You will learn how to choose the right fabric for any outfit. Other topics include finishing details that make the difference in any outfit, restyling a look by adding or changing buttons, as well as using different buttonholes, pockets and trims, designing a lovely outfit for a special occasion and choosing a workable wardrobe for your Life-Style. Learn to fill in the gaps in your existing wardrobe to give you a closet of “Workable Wearables.†Clothing can be tailor-made not only to give a perfect fit for your body, but to fit your Life-Style as well. Many people don’t realize that off-the-rack pieces must be tailored to fit you properly. No item of clothing will fit everybody exactly the same and this is very important to understand. For example, say you wear a size 10 blouse. Just pulling it off the rack and putting it on to wear without alterations will not give you the best fit for your body shape. Something will need to be tweaked, whether you need to shorten the sleeve length, move buttons, hem, add darts for shaping, etc. Even t-shirts can be altered or shaped to look better! Even though it will add to the cost of the garment the results will be worth the extra expense. Getting dressed should be a pleasure, not a chore. Imagine being able to pull from your closet for any last minute occasion without the panic setting in over having nothing to wear! Be ready for any occasion!
