The BAREBOW! BOOK: Of The FIVE, NATIVE, NORTH AMERICAN BIG-GAME “EXOTICS” (The BAREBOW! BOOK Digital Series 7)
Republished here in e-Book format, this is Book SEVEN of a seven-volume series that presents — collectively — all the stories, art work, and other material contained in the original hardcover, coffee-table book that came out in September of 2008. That book, titled "BAREBOW! An Archer's Fair-Chase Taking of North America's Big-Game 29", won five national awards in 2010, and it comprises 104 stories of true adventure and misadventure, chronicling the personal odyssey of author Dennis Dunn, as he pursued and eventually accomplished something nobody had ever done before: namely, harvesting --- with bow and arrow only (barebow) --- all 29 huntable big-game species on the North American continent.
"Barebow" means that the archer uses no yardage sight-pins or other aiming devices attached to the riser of the bow above the arrow rest. In other words, purely instinctive shooting is the only system in play. To many, this constitutes the ultimate challenge in fair-chase hunting.
This seventh and final volume of the new digital series brings together all 17 of the stories (plus accompanying art work) found in the five Chapters titled, "ROCKY MOUNTAIN GOAT", "PRONGHORN ANTELOPE", "COUGAR", "BISON", and "MUSKOX". These are what I have dubbed the five, native, N. A. big-game "exotics," because they don't fit into a larger "family," as do all the deer, elk, bear, sheep, caribou, and moose. This is really the "catch-all" book which completes the first-ever "Super Slam" e-Book.
In addition, you will find here the same comprehensive, taxonomic and biological information which made the parent book an encyclopedic reference work on all North American big game.
The reader is invited to visit the author's website at www.str8arrows.com, where one can view video footage of Dunn arrowing his Pope & Young World's Record Grizzly Bear from eight yards distant. Also, one can watch the footage of his Alaska Brownie taken from just five yards! Many book reviews, testimonials, and even two short-story excerpts, are also posted there.
If you enjoy being an armchair adventurer, with literature that will never put you to sleep, nor expose you personally to the hazards of setting foot in the wilderness, yourself, then the seven volumes in this exciting e-Book series should definitely be on your "bucket" list!
All the books are designed to appeal to the hunter and non-hunter alike. For that reason, they contain no "hero photos" of the author with any of his trophies at the kill-site. That omission, however, is more than compensated for by the remarkable and abundant wildlife art of wildlife artists Hayden and Dallen Lambson, a highly-revered father/son team from Pocatello, Idaho. Taken as a whole, The BAREBOW! BOOK is truly a stunning Fine Art book (50%), as well as a Treasury of compelling outdoor adventure stories (50%).
