F. Scott Fitzgerald was an American author who is widely considered to be one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald's works helped define the Jazz Age in the 1920's as Americans would come to know it. Fitzgerald only completed four novels but they are considered classics, especially The Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night. The Beautiful and Damned, published in 1922, is Fitzgerald's second novel. The book is set in the early 20th century and centers around Anthony Patch, the heir to a large fortune, and the relationship with his wife Gloria Gilbert.
