Brooke Adler knows that money can't buy happiness. Born into a wealthy family, she watched her status-driven mother make her father miserable. Determined to break free of society life, Brooke makes a bargain with her grandmother: If Brooke can prove that she can be self-supporting within a year, her grandmother will allow Brooke to give her trust fund to charity. Setting out for the rugged Ouachita Mountains in Oklahoma, Brooke intends to teach art to underprivileged children. But when she is injured in a car accident, she finds herself in the care of Dr. Drew Griffin. Shortly thereafter, financial difficulties force her to take a part-time job at Drew's clinic. He thinks Brooke won't last a week - especially when she faints at the sight of a bleeding woodsman. Determined to prove Drew wrong, Brooke vows to win the respect of the compassionate doctor. And in the process, she learns something about love as well.
