According to the Essene traditions, the earliest teacher of humanity known to us was Enoch, the founder of the Essene Brotherhood, who taught how to unite the thinking body of man with the cosmic ocean of thought, infinite and eternal. Next came the Persian Zoroaster, with his teaching of the Cosmic Order. After him, Moses brought down from the Mountain of Sinai the tablets containing the Essene communion with the angels. Another link in the succession was the teaching of Buddha, who, in the Far East, set in motion the Cosmic Wheel of Life. Finally, there was the Essene Brotherhood as the Dead Sea which planted the Essene Tree of Life, whose highest brancj was represented by the Essene Jesus, latest and therefore closest to us of all the great teachers of humanity. The quintessence of his revelation is found in the Sermon on the Mount. According to the Essene traditions, each of the great teachers of humanity revealed the whole truth in a complete, all-sided and absolute revelation, since the laws of life and of the universe have been, are, and always will be, the same. In the Essene view, the revelation of each teacher has two aspects: an inner or esoteric aspect and an outer or exoteric.
