The Freedom of Christ: Sermons on Galatians
This series of sermons, one each on the six chapters of Paul’s Epistle to the Galatians, follows the model of text selection—one chapter per week—prescribed in the historic Westminster Directory. Preached over the course of the six Sundays in Lent (2005) as part of an interim pastorate, Slemmons chose this method as a way of covering large portions of Scripture with some thoroughness over a relatively compressed period of time. An example of what he terms in the Introduction “reiterative exposition,†these sermons were preached in conjunction with his designing Year D, a lectionary expansion proposal that calls for, among other things, a greater role for lectio continua and/or semi-continuous methods of text selection.
