Breg is the son of farmers, living an ordinary life on the border of the Keldorian empire. His family begins to fall apart when Breg lets his temper get the better of him, and his older brother ends up in a coma. Matters are complicated even further by the arrival of a mysterious stranger. A Raven. Breg’s life is thrown into chaos when his parents are murdered by a band of roving bandits. His only option is to follow the Raven into the Wildland, a harsh, untamed area, inhabited by creatures only known in legend.
Breg’s new caretaker, Glendrig the Raven, isn’t an easy traveling companion. And Breg is forced to dig deep to find the courage and strength to deal with the constant danger. But the events happening around him are connected to a much deeper and sinister plot, one that could see the whole of Keldor burned. If Breg remains uninvolved, he might live out the rest of his life peacefully, removed from the horrors of the conflict. But he knows he can only wait so long before the danger not only finds him, but his new friends.
