Libertador, Gustavo Dudamel's first soundtrack, and first composition to be released worldwide!
The film is told from the viewpoint of Simón BolÃvar, the legendary Venezuelan military and political leader who helped secure independence from the Spanish empire, staring Edgar RamÃrez (Zero Dark Thirty, Wrath of the Titans), MarÃa Valverde, Danny Huston, Imanol Arias and Gary Lewis
Directed by Alberto Arvelo, Libertador is billed as the largest independent film production ever to come out of South America
Dudamel, who consulted with filmscore master John Williams in the preparations for this assignment, describes his soundtrack as atmospheric, post-Mahlerian music, full of tension, hope and struggle.
The Simón BolÃvar Symphony Orchestra and guests from the world of Venezuelan folk music lend the score a distinctive and irresistible Latin American flavor
Libertador makes its debut in Venezuelan cinemas on July 25th, and in the 2nd or 3rd week of august in the US. Other film release dates will be communicated as soon as they come in
On July 31st Gustavo Dudamel's Suite to Libertador will be premiered at the Hollywood Bowl
