In the Tradition / Lenox Avenue Breakdown/Illusions
Foster is best known as one of the key members of Count Basie's Orchestra in the 1950s as player, arranger and composer - he wrote the standard Shiny Stockings. In the 60s his solo work took a more modern bent and he worked with many of the most progressive young players of the time.
The Loud Minority features a Who's Who of New York jazz players, including Cecil and Dee Dee Bridgewater, Stanley Clarke and Elvin Jones. The title track has been sampled and is one of the great moments of political jazz.
The booklet will feature an in-depth note and exclusive colour photographs from the session. Newly remastered from the original master tapes.
