Calix Wesserman is a thirty-four year old private investigator who lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She spends most of her time pursuing cases of infidelity. One day, she comes across a case that isn’t like any others. She has difficulty determining what, if anything, is going on. She finds a tangled skein of lies, half-truths, and omissions so complicated and baffling that she believes she will never solve the case.
When she asks for more information, she is suddenly presented with a death threat. She has five days to live. If she doesn’t solve the case, she will be killed. She has only one person she can count on: her sister. Yet, her sister has an agenda all her own. Nothing in this case is quite what it seems.
She has two choices: she can either keep working on the case even though the people involved in it want to see her dead, or she can leave everything behind, move somewhere else, and hope they never find her. Calix decides to pursue the case regardless of the danger. There are strangers wearing masks of falsehood at every turn. If she wants to live, she must discover what is really going on and why a mysterious group has chosen its name after a dancing god.
