Best Case: Murder: An Introduction to Julie Smith's Mysteries
A dead guy is lying on the floor of City Hall with an owl mask on his head. That makes Utah O'Brien, a quiet, animal-loving sculptor and mask-maker, a murder suspect. Then news of the masked corpse goes viral on the Internet and salacious jokes make the rounds, both at the local diner and out in cyberspace. If she and her friends can't unmask the real killer, and fast, Utah's reputation will be ruined, her online craft business will be destroyed, and she might even be arrested for murder.
You'll like this book if you enjoy modern character-driven mysteries with likable small-town characters and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. This is the first Utah O'Brien Minnesota Mystery. The second book in the series, A Lonely Way to Die, is now available on amazon.com, and the third book is coming soon.
Almost non-stop drama and a fast moving plot kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish ... Really enjoyed the mix of the small town charm, and the fun cast of characters (loved Jocko too). "The Owl Thief" has an unpredictable plot, and a sassy and smart heroine in Utah, infused with a compelling storyline - felt really believable. Megan King—Goodreads
