BLOND AMBITION TOUR 1990 BROADCAST The Blond Ambition World Tour, Madonna s third concert tour launched in support of her fourth studio album, Like a Prayer, and the soundtrack album I'm Breathless, reached North America, Europe and Asia. A highly controversial live jaunt mainly for its juxtaposition of Catholic iconography and sexuality, Rolling Stone magazine called it an "elaborately choreographed, sexually provocative extravaganza" and proclaimed it "the best tour of 1990." In 1991, the documentary film, Truth or Dare (In Bed with Madonna), was released chronicling the tour and its behind the scenes goings on, which was deemed equally controversial. The tour received the Most Creative Stage Production at the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards, it grossed over $60 million and in North America alone 482,832 tickets were sold in the first two hours during the pre-sale, grossing $14,237,000. The tour also broke the record at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena with takings of $456,720, becoming the highest-grossing musical event of all time. Running between 24th April and 5th August 1990, the tour stopped in 11 countries, and within the shows Madonna continued to influence the fashion world in the most shocking and expensive ways. She popularized the idea of wearing underwear as outerwear and has since been associated with the pink satin conical bra designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Conversely, at times she wore see through lace tops without any kind of bra beneath! On 7th May 1990, the tour stopped in Dallas, Texas for a show at the city s Reunion Arena. The gig was recorded for live FM Broadcast in the local area and was also synched to stations nationwide. This CD set contains the full live recording of the concert, in superb FM quality and during which the true spectacle of this intriguing and fascinating period of this most iconic of female musical performers career is illustrated perfectly.
