This new 3-CD collection will draw together selections of the most popular works and recordings from Itzhak Perlman’s Warner Classics catalog, which are among the most celebrated violin recordings in the instrument’s history. The first CD is dedicated to movements from the great Romantic concertos, from Beethoven to Brahms and Tchaikovsky to Korngold. The second CD begins with the Baroque and ends with Shostakovich, placing special emphasis on virtuosic violinist-composers such as Paganini, Wieniawski and Kreisler. The third CD features a dazzling array of short concert pieces such as those by Rimsky-Korsakov, Massenet, Elgar and Gershwin, favorites of Perlman’s for his many recitals throughout his extraordinary career.
