Poky, the little puppy who's endeared himself to several generations of readers by being his irrepressible self (always tardy, very curious, a wanderer to the beat of his own drummer, a food lover) is back in an all-new adventure sure to delight new legions of young readers (and their parents). It's almost dinnertime and Poky and his siblings would love to find a way to get their meal a bit earlier. While the four other puppies try their various wiles at home, Poky goes to look for dinner in the wide, wild world. He slips through the hole under the fence and goes off. Along the way he's invited to share the dinners of a rabbit, a bird, and a frog, but lettuce, worms, and dragonflies are not to his taste. Then--oops!--Poky himself almost becomes another creature's dinner, but avoids this end by racing home just in time for a delicious meal. Poky's glad to be safe at home is sure he'll be content to stay that way--until the next time adventure beckons!
