Praise for The Princess and the Pea
"There are a lot of fairy tales rewrites out there. This one is one of the best." "I have read many many many fairy tale adaptations but this one was AMAZING!!!†“If you like female heroes who kick butt, you'll like Lina - she's a princess and a warrior who fights goblins."
True worth can only be measured by the heart…
After a century of bloodshed leads his family to the throne, Prince Alaric of Aeonia will do anything to preserve peace and protect his people. He knows only one way to prevent further conflict and refute the enemies questioning his bloodline: marriage. Torn between his duty to his country and his own happiness, Alaric calls for a Princess Test. This ancient matchmaking tradition will silence his critics and protect his future with a wife of noble birth, but…
Perhaps not all the girls are noble after all.
Over a century has passed since Evangelina Shadow-Storm accepted the cold embrace of enchanted sleep to seal away the goblin hordes. But the seal binds them no longer. Forced to face the goblins without her family or weapons, Lina seeks the aid of the Council of Kings by pretending she’s a princess. But the only way to claim such a status is to prove her worth in the one tradition that survived her slumber: the Princess Test.
Can Alaric uncover Lina’s secrets and keep the kingdom from plunging into chaos?
Can Lina pass the Princess Test and stop the goblins?
You’ll love the adventure, clean romance, and humor in this fairy tale retelling.

What made you decide to write a fairy tale retelling?
I have always loved reading fairy tale adaptations, but I was never satisfied with the way the stories tied together. I wanted the princesses to live next door to each other and share adventures. So I decided to put my own twist on my favorite fairy tales and show how they could be connected.
Where did you get your inspiration for this book?
I started by reading the original story and asking questions. How does a sane girl end up alone at a castle gate in a strange kingdom? Why does she keep her identity a secret? Why is there a test to decide if she is a true princess? Why does the prince care so much about marrying a true princess?
And the biggest question of all: how could a pea under your mattress cause extreme bruising?
Answering these questions in a logical way gave me tons of inspiration! I had to add magic and goblins to make it work, but it was a lot of fun to mix my ideas with the elements of the original story.
What type of reader would enjoy your storytelling style?
Readers who enjoy adventure, humor, and clean romance will enjoy my books. I love writing witty dialogue, lots of magic, and strong characters who aren’t afraid to fight for what’s right. Some of my favorite fairy tale authors are K.M. Shea, Shannon Hale, Gail Carson Levine, and Jessica Day George.
