Christopher Morgan has spent the past few years of his life trying his best to avoid asking himself some difficult questions. When he and his nagging wife head to a retreat in the mountains of Tennessee to work on their failing marriage, she reveals a bombshell secret that shakes the foundation of their union. The other men at the retreat quickly move in to comfort Chris, which surprises him and awakens dormant desires he never thought he would explore.
Christopher realizes that some of the other men are equally unhappy with their lives, and he begins to wonder if they're being honest about their intentions at the retreat. He takes special notice of the self-proclaimed leader of the group, a man named John who seems to have a strong penchant for wild parties and physical contact.
Eventually Christopher realizes that he is unable to leave the property, but after meeting a handsome young man named Thomas, he isn’t sure if he wants to escape after all. Confused by the attraction he’s feeling for Thomas, he is forced to decide if he wants to return to his mundane life, or stay in his newfound home surrounded by temptation and fueled by pleasure-seeking men.
The Retreat is a revised version of the book originally published as Reverence. The story has been modified with extensive edits and plot changes, as well as the addition of several steamy scenes.
