Art Hickman was a man way ahead of his time. While the nation was falling in love with Dixieland Jazz, Hickman and his orchestra were working out the kinks to what would come to be known as the Big Band sound! Sure, they could play Dixieland as hot and as sweet as anybody, but their real forte was something much bigger and less conventional. The 25 tunes in this collection come from their very first recording sessions in 1919 and 1920.
