The Sermons and Articles of Horatius Bonar: A Collection of Over 200 Readings
Horatius Bonar (1808 – 1889) was born in Scotland to a father who was part of a long line of ministers going back over 350 years. He was one of 11 children and after marrying in 1843 had many of his own, 5 of which died while still young.
Like his father he became a minister in the Church of Scotland, where he was in charge of mission work at St. John's parish. However he would end up joining the Free Church at the time of the Disruption of 1843. In 1867 he moved to Edinburgh to become a minster at Chalmers Memorial Church. In 1883, he was chosen to be the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland.
Bonar's wife, died in 1876 and Bonar himself died in 1889.
Bonar is famous for his hymns, books and sermons, many of which are collected in this work.
