This final book of the series, for grades 11 and 12, features the cumulative sentence as the fundamental unit of good writing. This book examines how the grammatical elements already studied in the preceding books can be structured in a variety of ways to create clear, interesting, and detailed sentences. By considering these grammatical units in terms of levels of generality, students explore sentence patterns they have read but never before had the confidence to create themselves. In addition, the principles of sentence structure become the principles of paragraph structure, as creative writing moves into expository writing.
