Life for Sarah Willcox has not been easy since her father died.

Itâ€™s the late 1920s and Sarah loves her work as an apprentice in the sheds at the Staffordshire-based pottery Frenshaws.

She is able to escape her miserable home life where her hateful step-father Joe abuses her mother.

But thereâ€™s no escaping it completed, as Joe also works at the pottery company.

When Sarahâ€™s talent is recognized by the master potter and owner, Daniel, she is sent to Design School where she meets wealthy Annabel and they quickly become friends.

But Sarahâ€™s life is far from settled.

Beneath Danielâ€™s dedication to work lies a deep compassion and a long-standing interest in Sarah and her family.

On her fifteenth birthday, a violent tragedy sends Sarahâ€™s life spiralling into an entirely new direction.

She escapes to live with her grandmother where she learns secrets about her past and a heritage that she never knew existed.

Rona Randall was born in Cheshire, but grew up in London. She won a scholarship to a local college of art, but circumstances prevented her from taking this up and she took a secretarial course which she hated. She studied drama under the late Frank Forbes-Robertson and became an actress for a time. After this she worked as a secretary in an editorial office, then became a journalist, before moving on to writing fiction. She is married to a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, and has one son and two grandchildren. She lives in Kent.

Rona Randall has herself progressed, through pottery, to become an accomplished modeller in ceramics, and the unusual background of The Potter's Niece is one she knows well.
