The VanDweller's Guide: A simple, straight-forward guide to the necessities of living in a van
The Vandweller’s guide is a detailed, practical guide to living in a car or a van. There is a heavy emphasis on the day to day practicalities and the modifications you can make to your vehicle to make living in it easier. The book starts with a history of Vandwelling, dating back to the days of travelling in horse drawn Vardos, to modern day internal combustion vans. There is a section on deciding if the lifestyle is for you, a guide to buying vans, downsizing and then comprehensive advice and instructions on how to choose and fit out power, water, toilet, furniture and gas options. There are practical step by step instructions covering subjects such as solar power, water fittings, installing bench tops and basic vehicle maintenance. As well as choosing and fitting out the guide provides advice on living in a van, where to park, keeping cool and warm, security, how to handle police encounters, cooking (including engine block cooking) hobbies and a lot more. The book has been designed to be either read from start to finish or individual chapters referenced as required. The book is written by a long time Vandweller, Australian author, but in most cases, measurements are provided in both metric and imperial. The van buying guides have been written to cater for Australian, US and European marketplaces. The advice in this book is intended for beginners and experienced Vandwellers alike. Much of this information is available on my website http://vandwellers.org, but the majority of the book is new content. While the guide is also available through the Facebook Vandwellers group, this Kindle version has been created due to popular demand. It is being sold at the lowest price I can list it. There is also a section on tales from the road. Appendixes include a packing list and a solar power use calculator. Bonus material includes the Australian Homeless Survival Guide, which contains practical advice applicable to most Western countries. Over 300 Kindle pages / 130 A4 pages and 80 plus images.
