The Wrath of the Gods.
'It is God’s will that this land will be ruled by different peoples and we are his instruments. He has drawn the veil from my eyes and shown me the path which stretches ahead of us, my friend. You and I hold the future of this land in our hands. Think, Wulfhere! Together we have the might to bring peace to this land. To be high kings of Britain!'
Late 5th century Britain. A maelstrom of kingdoms, tribes and religions. Wulfhere has won his kingdom, now he must keep his people safe and lead them to a safe and prosperous future. Who is a friend and who is an enemy? Old certainties no longer exist. The blood of the tribes has been mixed. Values and traditions have become shared. Old religions, witchcraft, and Christianity muddy the waters. Should he follow the vision of his friend Artorius? Can he trust the ambitions of his brother in law, Icel? What do the gods want of him? The lives of thousands and a new age for all of the peoples of Britain, are in the hands of two men, both chosen by gods to carry their will throughout the land.
