There's Gonna Be A Party [ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED]
On this collection, Speedy West seems very much at home during the amiable interplay with Tennessee Ernie Ford, and of whose band he was a key member during 1950s pre-recorded broadcasts. His status meant that Speedy always got to play at least one solo per show, but Jimmy Bryant was an occasional guest and was thus to be heard less often. The other regular musicians Billy Liebert on piano or accordion, Harold Hensley on fiddle, George Bruns on bass, and Billy Strange on guitar (when Bryant was absent), gave all the support anyone could ask for, and all joined in the obvious fun which made Tennessee Ernie's shows so popular at the time. Within a few short years of its inclusion on Country recordings in the 1930s, the steel guitar became an essential ingredient of the genre. One amongst the later proponents is Speedy West and this new 30 track Jasmine compilation is a celebration of his musicianship, mainly with his own compositions. Also to be heard is electronic guitarist Jimmy Bryant, a great musician in his own right and a favoured duettist with West. Holding the whole proceedings together is the warmest of hosts, Tennessee Ernie Ford.
