The author of this autobiography describes herself as an ordinary young Frenchwoman who survived extraordinary circumstances during the Holocaust through a combination of luck, bravery and skill. She lived to describe what she witnessed in Auschwitz: the Nazi war machine in all its brutal efficiency and unfeeling randomness. She used her new strength and courage to create a good life, always bearing the weight of her memories.
Ruth passed away in 2011. In her honor, all proceeds are donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
