Jake Arnold leads a simple life in Port Salerno, a small south Florida town that had thrived in the once lucrative fishing industry. A fifth generation commercial fisherman, Jake makes ends meet by crabbing and running the Salty Dog Saloon, a local watering hole that has been in his family for decades. Deeply rooted in the community, he enjoys the company of close friends and, though outwardly content, the circumstances surrounding his father’s death trouble him. After a chance discovery during renovations in the bar reignites Jake’s latent ‘treasure bug’ and beautiful but secretive Vanessa enters his life, the two team up to search for remnants of the 1715 Spanish Fleet treasure they believe still exists. As Vanessa’s secrets begin to unfold, Jake’s simple life gets complicated. It spirals out of control when he learns of her relationship with the owner of a salvage company also looking for the treasure. However Mother Nature has no desire to give up the treasure she’s claimed. Hurricane Ivy is churning up the Atlantic and headed their way. When it hits, Jake and Vanessa are forced to seek higher ground at the Salty Dog. But safety eludes them. Upon their arrival, Jake is faced with a severely injured friend, a crazy Irish smuggler with a gun, the mysterious man who has been stalking Vanessa and no way to get help. As the hurricane rages on, each of the Salty Dog’s occupants encounter surprises that will end one life and change the rest forever.
