The MB comes under attack from land grabbing swindlers, who see Blue’s valley as an easy mark. After digging deeper into those behind the grab, Ben finds a long string of fraudulent homestead claims stretching across Texas, Kansas, and New Mexico. The swindle is run by two men using various names for their company and themselves. With ties to greedy east coast sources, money was pouring in to all but the legitimate land owners and the land buyers. Range wars had erupted resulting in numerous deaths in several states. Legal fees were piling up, and it could take years to straighten the tangled paper work out. The swindlers depended on the fact that frontier lawmen didn’t normally share information with one another. When a hard headed Spanish Don’s grant in a neighboring county is the swindler’s latest target, Ben is asked to pin on his badge.
