Cambridge Mass
A Cambridge Mass
A Cambridge Mass was written between 1897 and 1899 as part of Vaughan Williams's efforts toward the degree of Doctor of Music from Cambridge University. His time at Cambridge was to influence Vaughan Williams's character, friendships, ideals and musical development for the rest of his life. This world première recording features a quartet of fine soloists backed by The Bach Choir and the New Queen's Hall Orchestra conducted by Alan Tongue.
