2013 marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of English conductor Sir Adrian Boult. This comprehensive 13-CD boxset contains Boult's complete Vaughan Williams EMI recordings. Boult was known for his championing of British Music. He met Vaughan Williams at Oxford and the two became lifelong friends. Boult extensively recording works by his friend. This set brings together all the recordings he made starting in 1940 to the early 1950's. Included is the popular Symphony No. 3 (A Pastoral Symphony), which was premiered on January 26, 1922 in London with Boult conducting, as well as Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, a work featured in the novel Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James. As a special bonus, CD 13 includes audio footage of Sir Adrian Boult in rehearsal during the recording process with EMI.
