All the concertos selected here are linked to German violinist Johann Georg Pisendel, a member of the Dresden orchestra who spent considerable time in Venice in 1716-1717. Vivaldi and Pisendel became very close friends and the "Prete Rosso" composed several works for Pisendel, who carried these and many more Vivaldi works back to Germany with him.
