Each day, up to 25 million unsolicited e-mail messages, or "spam", are sent across the Internet. Who picks up the cost of this "free" advertising? You do. WatchGuard SpamScreen provides you a means to fight back and stop receiving the growing deluge of junk e-mail that wastes your employees valuable time. Available as an optional software module for your WatchGuard LiveSecurity System, SpamScreen easily integrates into your standard WatchGuard Security Suite of software. With SpamScreen, you have an advanced anti-spamming filter that enables you to take control of junk e-mail. Once installed, SpamScreen checks the source of each incoming e-mail message against lists of questionable sources. The RBL list maintained by MAPS is checked using a reverse DNS lookup of the IP address from which the e-mail is being received. In addition, a list of spam signatures stored on the Firebox is consulted. When a match is found, and the e-mail source is identified as a known source of spam. You are then provided with three options for automatically handling the e-mail message. You can deny the e-mail message, allow the e-mail message or allow the e-mail message, but "tag" it with a warning to the addressee that alerts them that the message may be suspect. Additionally, you can define exceptions to WatchGuards list of spam signatures, allowing e-mail from specific addresses or address patterns that may otherwise be blocked. Logging and reporting options are available using WatchGuards built-in LogViewer. To keep a record of filtered messages, all denied e-mail messages are logged.
