The movie version, thus far, is presented as a silhouetted lambent blue figure, his forehead marked by the symbol of the hydrogen atom that Manhattan adopted in lieu of an awkward helmet with an insignia-style symbol. Originally Manhattan was a scientist named Jon Osterman who was involved in a series of experiments designed to remove the intrinsic fields of physical objects. Osterman was inadvertently trapped inside an intrinsic field test chamber and was, to the horror of his colleagues, totally vaporized. Later, in gradual systemic phases, Osterman's physical form was reconstituted and imbued with godlike powers. Doctor Manhattan was the only super-powered character in the Watchmen continuity. His existence provided for a handful of technological advancements, and enabled the American forces to win the Vietnam War. Packaged in a four-color window box, the Dr. Manhattan figure stands at 6.5" inches high and features multiple points of articulation and a base.
