In celebration of their 25th anniversary, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys bring you all-new recordings of twelve of their favorite original songs.
What started out as a garage rehearsal among high school buddies in Anaheim, California in 1988 propelled Robert "Big Sandy" Williams to tour the world over, entertaining fans of American Music. Before they knew it, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys were touring the country opening for Morrissey and, eventually, touring worldwide. They gained the attention of national TV and radio audiences with three appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, interviews on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross and All Things Considered with Melissa Block, and a guest spot on The Grand Ole Opry.
Over the ensuing years, they released 14 stellar albums of predominantly original songs written by Big Sandy. To celebrate this 25-year milestone, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys recorded 12 "Fly-Rite" favorites-newly arranged, acoustic versions of songs from all of the band's prior albums.
Since forming, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys have toured continuously and become torchbearers of American roots music. As a singer, songwriter, bandleader, and entertainer, Big Sandy has few contemporaries. With the release of What a Dream It's Been, Big Sandy is at once acknowledging and celebrating the successes of the past 25 years, and setting the stage for further exploration and interpretation of the musical forms he is most passionate about.
