White Lightnin
Although four decades have past, Clarence White continues to be revered by fans and musicians alike. "Clarence White: White Lightnin' " is a collection of rare, mostly unreleased studio and live recordings, focusing on his electric guitar work though it contain some bluegrass guitar moments as well. Highlights include: Clarence's first commercial, major label appearance from the now classic album, "New Dimensions in Banjo and BluegrassWeissberg & Brickman" the never before released on CD, "No Title Yet Blues," featuring Clarence's brilliant lead and rhythm guitar. From 1967 recorded live at the Nashville West Club in El Monte CA, you will hear Clarence's other country band, a band few, if any, ever heard, let alone saw, "THE ROUSTABOUTS," performing "Buckaroo," "Tango for a Sad Mood" and "Tuff and Stringy" followed by a never before release studio recording of another version of "Tuff and Stringy," all featuring Clarence on electric guitar and a full country band with pedal steel, piano, drums, bass. From the Byrds era, more rare, there are unreleased studio tracks including a killer string bender instrumental, "Around the Barn", acoustic version of "Yesterday's Train" plus others including rare tracks with the Everly Bros., Joe Cocker, and Freddy Weller. Interspersed with these and other rare tracks on this CD is Clarence and his string bending Telecaster ripping off guitar licks as part of his home made practice/instruction tapes.
