ALARUE WINE DECANTERS
Deluxe Wine Decanter Set, MADE IN EUROPE
Why decant wine?
When you decant a bottle of wine, two things happen:
First, decanting it slow and carefully separates the sediment from the wine, especially with older port wines or aged Bordeaux. The other important feature is that when you pour the wine in the decanter the result will be mixing it up with oxygen, aerating it. This will open up aromas and make the wine come to life faster, very important when it comes to younger wines.
How to decant?
According to experts, if you store your wine bottles in a wine shelf or cellar, you should set the bottle upright for about a day before decanting, in order for the sediments to slide down to the bottom, making the separation easier.
Once the bottle is open, start pouring the wine slowly and carefully into the decanter. Stop as soon as you start seeing sediments reaching the neck of the bottle, or the wine becomes cloudy. You can notice this easier if you pour the wine into the decanter over a candle or a flashlight.
Usually the older wines need to be decanted, but those are also the mature wines, that do not need too much aeration, and that's when the bonus cork ball comes in handy. The cork ball is perfectly measured in order to be sure that the wine is breathing but also keeps its initial properties.
The Alarue decanters are made out of lead-free glass, in order to make sure it's safe to drink anything stored in them.
