Words from the Myths
Words from the Myths' is a brief book, only a couple of hundred pages and with large print. Asimov retells the Greek myths in a very abbreviated form, sufficient to explain the pro genesis of English words that have their roots in the myths. Although intended as an etymological essay, Asimov does not merely list words in alphabetical order and explain their origins. He reproduces the myths in story form, adding his own passion for them and his own story-telling flair. He explains the literary progeny of certain words and names as he proceeds.
