- After a long freeze and a gradual thaw, but the late 1980s a few muscle cars had returned. The fuel injected 302 5.0-liter Ford small-block was a very underrated engine. Super Stock Magazine editor Steve Collison got his Mustang GT into the upper 12s with just bolt-on parts, thatÕs how much red meat was in those little engines. Reasonably priced, Ford lovers scooped them un and suddenly, it was 1969 again!
