Amish Brotherly Love (Book One - Corbins Creek Amish Romance Series)
Will true love triumph over traditional rules and regulations?
Adam and Priscilla Graber are a happy Christian couple, him working in construction and her at a bakery, hoping to someday have children together. Adam was once Amish, and although he has been shunned because of his marriage to Priscilla, who is not Amish, he still follows ordnung as if he’d never left. On the day that Priscilla discovers that their prayers for a child have been answered, Adam is tragically killed in a building accident. She must now face life alone as a single mother.
In a fit of grief, she runs away from home, but is found by a group of Amish travelers—and soon discovers that they are the long-lost relatives of her dear husband. She makes the choice to go and live with them, but could not have predicted what happened next. Priscilla must decide whether to follow her heart or allow the opinions of others to dictate her next step…and the future of newborn Adam.
“Lord,†she prayed in a soft voice. “I am so confused now. I don’t know what to do about this. Nicolas has been so kind to me. I dare not let my feelings get out of control. I am, perhaps, too vulnerable right now. I miss Adam. He looks like him; he is very much the same. He is his brother’s brother. Help me, Lord. I cannot do anything to hurt this family. Help me be strong and resist any temptation I might have to reveal any unethical or unwanted feelings. I don’t want to hurt anyone, Lord. I don’t want to be sent away from here. Help me, Lord. Please help me.â€
Nicolas Graber, brother-in-law of Priscilla, is conflicted. He has fallen in love with his brother’s widow, but because she is just that, he wonders whether he is sinning against God by desiring her. He must seek the advice of his strict father, Bishop Graber, who will decide whether the marriage is acceptable in the Amish community of Corbin’s Creek. If not, he’ll lose the love of his life and have to look elsewhere for a bride.
The young Amish man has already begun getting to know Priscilla, as she lives with their family, and adores her newborn son, named Adam after his dead father. Little Adam easily finds a place in his uncle’s heart, alongside Priscilla, if the elders will allow their union. If they do not, he’ll have to make the choice of whether to find another wife and lose Priscilla forever…or follow his brother’s footsteps and be shunned because of their love.
Will Priscilla allow her feelings for her brother-in-law to become known or will she hide them away to protect her status in the Amish community she’s come to love?
Can Nicolas convince the elders that his brother’s widow should be allowed to marry him or will they have to escape Corbin’s Creek in order to live happily ever after?
