This is the Apocalypse online, an album of woodcuts by Albrecht DÃ¼rer inspired by the Book of Revelation.

According to general agreement, the German painter and printmaker from Nuremberg, Albrecht DÃ¼rer, was the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance, producing a body of artistic output that was prodigious, admired and imitated by artists of his own and succeeding generations.

Watch for background landscapes and architectural features fashioned from DÃ¼rer's own familiar German surroundings, and yet they artistically portend the Biblical End of Days.
